Dog Attacks and Bites
My friend, who lives in Colorado, told me about an incident he had several years ago where he was involved in a dog attack. In this dog attack he tried to intervene when two of his "pet" dogs were fighting in his children's bedroom. He tried spraying water on them, but that didn't work. He was so fearful that a dog would attack one of his kids that he tried to physically separate the dogs. He did successfully! But it cost him 82 stitches and a trip to the emergency room at the hospital.
Unfortunately, that scene is repeated on a daily basis throughout the United States. The CDC, or Centers for Disease Control tells us that close to 5 million people in the United States are bitten by dogs every year. One out of every five of them requires emergency medical care. Of those, almost exactly half of them are kids in the ages of 5 to 9 making them more prone to attack than the legendary targets-letter carriers from the U.S. Postal Service.
Of all the breeds of dogs, a relative few that includes pit bulls, rottweilers, boxers and a few others account for 87% of attacks to adults and 76% of attacks to children according to the website dogbites.org.
Instances of dogs killing children and dogs attacking other dogs still exist but they are relatively rare. As the number of people in the United States continues to grow more and more of them are getting dogs, which may account for the increase in the number of dog attacks.
An enormous number of dog attacks and dog bites occur to adults who are out walking, jogging or cycling-doing their daily exercise. Most of these adults are defenseless against dog attacks. That is why we recommend two self-defense products.
The first is a stun gun baton that can extend up to 21 ½ inches at the press of a button. When it extends, it powers up and makes sizzling, crackling sound that is not unlike the sound of a rattlesnake. That sound is frequently enough to scare an assailant or charging dog away. If not, the application of several million volts of electricity will get their attention.
The second self-defense product against dog attacks and dog bites especially from wild dogs is the Mace pepper gun. Mace is world renowned for their self-defense product pepper sprays. The Mace pepper gun uses replaceable cartridges filled with a 10% concentration of oleoresin capsicum, the main ingredient in all pepper sprays, which can shoot up to 25 feet away.
So the next time you do your exercise outside by walking, jogging or cycling make sure that you have a Mace pepper gun or a stun gun baton with you for self-defense and personal security. Those are the best ways to defend against dog attacks or dog bites.
